Casey's BBQ & Smokehouse

Casey's BBQ egg harbor WICasey's is located downtown Egg Harbor on HWY 42. The theme at Casey's is Southern Style BBQ and they smoke all of their meats on premises with Door County cherry wood, and a signature dry rub.

They have a number of menu items for those who are not too excited about smoked / BBQ foods, including a good burger, Friday Fish Fry, pasta and salad dishes.

Their specialties include BBQ beef brisket, ribs, smoked chicken, smoked sausage and brisket chili.

Casey's is a fairly traditional style bar / restaurant, with the bar area equipped for limited food seating and a separate dining room with seating for around 60-80.

Disappointingly, Casey's do not offer Tap beers, just a fairly good assortment of domestic and imported bottled beers. Their wine selection is quite basic in terms of different options, but the wines they do carry are pretty good quality.

I've dined at Casey's many times, usually during the Winter months when they're one of the few good food places that stay open 7 days, year round. Their food is consistent, in fact consistently good. I'm not really a BBQ aficionado, but their smoked meats and sausage are very good. The level of smoke imparted into the meats is perhaps a little high for my tastes, it's almost too smokey, too powerful. I love the concept of the smoked Italian sausage, and it looks fantastic, but the smoke level gives it a very powerful flavor and quite a high degree of saltiness on the tongue. This is really just a minor quibble, and I'm sure a true BBQ fan wouldn't make the same observations. The fact that I eat there so often stands as testament to the quality of the food and to the fact that my comments on the meats being a little over-smokey, are minor points which shouldn't stop you from eating there.

Their brisket and chicken is very good, as is the pork shoulder and chicken. The BBQ beef brisket is very bold and smokey and with just a little spice to kick things up. They also make a mean Caesar salad, and the pasta dish is pretty good too. I believe they feature a prime rib dish on Saturdays, which I haven't tried, but their regular steaks are OK, nothing special.

The staff at Casey's are great, always friendly and attentive, and the bartenders know how to mix a decent cocktail.
